The majority of these were manufactured in England and their heyday was in the late 1880s. The mechanism is pneumatic, charged from a separate pump (tools needed for attachment included). This early cane gun features a black enameled staff with a brass tip and a semi-cue ball type handle. Rarely seen on this side of the pond. Features a rifle sight on the staff. The knob is rosewood. Brass tube screws in from tip. Cane screws together in the center. Markings on inside of takedown "O.P.F." and the serial number. These are the only markings we can find on this gun. Appears to be in excellent all original condition with a slight stress crack on ball knob and a few minor chips in enamel. There is a small front rifle sight at tip. These air cane guns are discussed in the tenth edition of the 'Blue Book of Air Guns'.
