7-1/2" barrel in .455 Eley caliber. Manufactured 1905. In 1905 the Colt New Service flat top target revolver was the most expensive firearm in the Colt catalog. This revolver has all the early features including the non-tapered barrel. New Service target models made for the English market, in addition to the English caliber, features the wind-drift rear sight only with the high pinned front sight. The barrel, frame, and every cylinder flute has the British proof marks. Left side of frame has the Colt New Service stamp. Grips are the exquisite fleur-de-lis checkered walnut. Front and rear grips straps are factory hand checkered, as is the trigger. There is a provision for the lanyard loop, which has been removed. Indexes and locks up perfectly. Strong clean bore. Overall, this fine revolver retains approximately 90% original factory blue with thinning at muzzle, high edges, and aging on the frame. The right side of the barrel has the proof (tons) stamps. This revolver is housed in an original English retailer oak case with the label of "Charles Hellis & Sons, Hyde Park London". It is lined with blue velvet. The original case is in excellent condition with keys but no accessories.
