Barrel 24", .30-06 caliber. R. F. Sedgley built some of the finest sporting rifles out of his shop in Philadelphia. Favoring the Springfield Model 1903 action as the basis for his custom rifles. He preferred the classic lines most associated with the Griffin & Howe pre-war sporters. The stocks featured straight grain, dark American walnut, finely checkered at wrist and fore-end. With a graceful schnauble fore-end tip with a black composite grip cap and a checkered steel butt plate like those found on the pre-war Winchester Model 70's. Most of his stocks have the straight comb with flutes. The action is a standard Model 1903. The forward bridge has been stippled. Lyman 48 receiver sight standard, Barrel is stamped "RF Sedgley Inc Phila." The tapered barrel has a single band that holds the front sling eye and has two installed A-O scope blocks. It has a custom banded ramp front sight with brass bead. The floor plate has some minor age spotting. The stock has a couple of normal, minor impressions and there is some thinness of finish on the front sight band. It has an excellent bore and perfect action. Beautiful near mint custom sporting rifle.
