Manufactured 1873 to 1875. This revolver is chambered for the .38 rimfire cartridge. Sports a 4-1/2" round barrel and five shot fluted cylinder. Approximately 6,500 of these revolvers were altered from the standard Model 1862 Police. This one has all matching numbers, including wedge and remains in near mint condition, retaining approximately 97% of the expertly reapplied finish (possibly done at time of conversion). All legends sharp as new. Strap retains virtually all of the nickel finish, brilliant fire blue on screw heads, 80% brilliant case colors on frame and hammer and beautiful walnut grips. Perfect action. Strong clean bore. There are a couple spots of wear to the top of barrel and cylinder. In addition, there is some minor age spotting on left side of barrel and light muzzle wear.
