Barrel length 39", .58 bore. Offered is a standard Tower rifled musket. Lock is dated 1854, with British Crown and "VR". Breech of barrel has numerous British proof marks. Features brass butt plate and trigger guard, three barrel band, brass fore-end tip, sling swivel mounted on trigger bow and front band. Barrel and bands are blued retaining most of their original finish, although mixing with plum. It has military style rear sight. Stocks are excellent with a couple of very minor bumps and bruises. Very good rifle bore. Overall, an extremely fine Tower Rifle. Huge quantities of these rifles were ferreted to the Confederacy via blockade runners during the Civil War and were considered far superior to our US weapons.
