2" barrel in .38 Special caliber. Referred to as the .38 Chief's Special Pre-Model 36 with the ramp front sight, blued finish, five shot, double action, flat latch, with case colored hammer and trigger. This revolver was manufactured circa 1950-51 and built on the 'J' frame. The original grips have been replaced with a much earlier pair of Smith & Wesson black composite grips. Gun retains approximately 85% original factory blue with some thinning at muzzle, cylinder, high edges, and frame high edges. Excellent color on hammer and trigger. Some freckling on front grip strap. Strong clean bore. Tight lock-up.
