Barrel length 26", .30-30 caliber. In 1966, Winchester produced the first ever commemorative rifle in what was to become a long standing company tradition. This rifle was built on the Model 1894 design and was titled the 66 Centennial to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Winchester lever action rifle, the Model 1866 "Yellow Boy". The standard Model 1894 rifle consisted of a 26" full octagon barrel, full magazine, with walnut stocks and rifle butt plate. Winchester plated the frame, fore-end cap and butt plate with a gold metal plating, with all other metal parts being blued, including screws. In addition they added a saddle ring that is usually found on carbines. This combination of blue and gold, with a beautifully finish stock make for one of the most handsome commemorative rifles ever built. This example remains in as new, unfired condition, in the original box, numbered to gun, with all the original paperwork. The box was then housed in a custom full color sleeve with images taken from early Winchester advertising. The gun and box are in excellent condition but the sleeve has seen considerable storage wear, with some missing pieces. Accompanying this rifle, is the original cardboard pop-up store display in the original shipping carton that was sent to dealers at the time to display the rifle. The original store display is in near new condition, having never been assembled. Once assembled, it acts as a single rifle rack. This display is far more rare than the rifle itself.
