.58 percussion, barrel length 40". One of the largest subcontractors of the 1861 US Springfield musket was Alfred Jenks & Son who operated out of Bridesburg, Philadelphia. Lock is dated 1862 and is stamped "US Bridesburg" with eagle. Top of barrel is not dated. Left side of barrel has the "VP" proof. Three barrel bands are stamped "U". Butt plate is stamped "US". Oval cartouche on left side of stock is visible but not readable. All metal is in the white and has been cleaned. It has the standard military rear sight as well as metal ramrod. Walnut stocks are excellent with minor dents. Very good bore with black powder abrasion. It comes with an original leather sling.
