.64 smooth bore percussion, barrel length 23". Approximately 2,020 of these were manufactured at the Harpers Ferry Armory between 1837-1840. Standard carbine is stamped "J.H. Hall US 1839" on breech block. It has two barrel bands and the retracting bayonet under the barrel. No visible cartouches on walnut stock. It has a saddle ring stud on left side that is locked into place on the right side. Metal is a mix of brown and grey patina with some evidence of light cleaning on frame. Stocks are excellent. Smooth bore with minor black powder abrasion. Overall, a very clean original example of a scarce carbine.
