3-1/2" barrel in .32 ACP caliber. According to the book entitled "U.S. General Officer's Pistols" by Williams & Brunner, page 2, the early U.S. marked .32 caliber blued pocket hammerless pistols were changed to the phosphate finish in October of 1944 at serial No. 562000. This is the pre-1944 blued version marked "U.S. Property" on right side of frame. The serial number range puts it in a block of pistols sent to the Washington Quarter Master's department. This particular pistol comes in its original Kraft box with the name "Gilbert R. Langston" written in pencil, and the serial number also written on the apron in pencil. Langston was a warrant officer who enlisted on 5-29-42. The gun itself remains in beautiful all original condition, retaining 99% original factory blue with a couple of minor age freckles and literally no wear with the exception of some very, very minor high edge muzzle wear. The checkered walnut grips have the silver medallion and are near mint. Comes with two original Colt marked magazines, as well as a correct U.S. issue shoulder holster manufactured by Boyt. Has a perfect bore and action. An extremely difficult to find blued .32 General Officer's pistol in such fine condition as most of those found on today's market feature the phosphate finish.
