26" barrel in .30-30 caliber. Manufactured 1899. Factory letter lists this rifle as a 26" octagon with pistol grip and takedown feature shipped on June 20th, 1899. Neither the caliber nor the engraving is mentioned in research. The engraving is the No. 1 Marlin pattern and can be seen on page 531 in the Marlin Firearms Book by Brophy, leaving no doubt that this is factory engraved. Left side of frame is engraved with running antlered game in oval and decorative scroll and border. Right side of frame is engraved with antlered game in oval with similar decorative scroll and border. Additional engraving can be found on tang, top of frame, lower receiver, takedown ring, nosecap and barrel breach. Barrel and tube retain approximately 98% blue with razor sharp legends and edges. Frame colors have faded to a gun metal grey. 30% blue on loading gate. Fire blue still remains on right frame screw. Excellent wood is proud to metal with sharp checkering. Strong pronounced rifling. Perfect action. An extremely lovely 1893 deluxe factory engraved Marlin rifle.
