16" barrel chambered for the .22 LR caliber. The AR7 Explorer was invented by Gene Stoner in 1959 and produced by Armalite beginning in 1959 and ending in 1973 in Costa Mesa, California. This is the earliest boxed example that we have seen. It comes with the original New York City registration papers dated 4-8-65 and lists this gun by serial number. Not only is this an extremely early example but is literally near new in the original box with original instructions and has the very interesting, unusual pattern stock. An extremely handy rifle that was made to be self contained and to float. Lovely early rifle in high condition.
