The factory letter states that this revolver was shipped on July 31st, 1883 to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. in Chicago, Illinois in caliber .44-40 with a 5-1/2" barrel, nickel finish, in a shipment of three guns. Stocks not listed but are standard Colt gutta percha. The gun is in all original configuration. The etched panel is strong, complete and original. Barrel retains approximately 85% original nickel finish with the balance blending gun metal. The frame retains approximately the same amount of original nickel. Cylinder retains approximately 75% original nickel. Beautiful fire blue on trigger and back of hammer. Grips are near mint. Perfect action. Strong clean bore. This is an extremely handsome fine condition etched panel. The 5-1/2" is one of the scarcer configurations found with panel.
