5" barrel in .45 ACP caliber. According to the factory letter, this gun was shipped on September 2nd, 1937 to David A. Hay & Co. in Wilmington, Delaware. It was furnished with a 3-3/4 pound trigger pull and was shipped as a single gun. All other standard features include blued finish and checkered walnut grips. The most expensive gun in the Colt catalog in 1937, every National Match pistol was completely hand fitted by a master armorer. This pistol has all the proper pre-war parts to include: short wide spur checkered hammer, checkered trigger, checkered plunger, checkered slide stop, checkered safety, and checkered backstrap. Gun remains in beautiful condition, retaining 97% original factory blue finish. The rear sight was period replaced with a King adjustable and appears to utilize the original sight slot. The pin front sight was replaced at the same time with a high profile King front sight. Both of these could easily be reconverted, if so desired, but the sighting system, given the period of the piece, makes for a superior sight plane. Fine bore and action. Walnut grips are excellent with a few minor dents and high edge wear. Light drag line, but the only other appreciable wear being some muzzle wear and some light toning on grip straps.
