Barrel length 20", .44 rimfire. This fine Winchester Model 1866 lever action carbine has survived the past 150 years in lovely all original condition. It is standard in all respects with 20" barrel, full magazine, barrel band front sight, single leaf folding rear sight, blued finish, with brass frame, saddle ring and stud, rich dark walnut stock with brass rifle butt plate. The barrel, tube and barrel bands are a lovely, smooth, soft patina with razor sharp legends, having never been cleaned or touched. The brass remains with its original patina and has toned to the hue so desired by Winchester collectors as has the butt plate. Walnut stocks are excellent, proud to metal, with only a minor 1/2" sliver at left wrist tang. The left lever screw is a period replacement. All other screws are perfect. Action is fine. Bore is amazing in that it has clean, crisp rifling with minor frosting and black powder abrasion. This is the cleanest and most handsome Model 1866 carbine that we have come across in a long time. Even the loading gate shows some original blue finish. An extremely fine 1866 carbine.
