5" barrel in .45 ACP caliber. Offered is a very early high condition Colt U.S. Army manufactured in 1914. It is 100% correct and original in all respects, to include: blued finish; small thin front sight; rounded U-notch rear sight; short checkered wide spur hammer; checkered slidestop, safety, pushrod, and magazine release. It has the smooth lanyard ring flat mainspring housing. Barrel is stamped with the perpendicular "PH". Left side of frame has the "Walter G. Penfield" (1911-1914) inspector stamp. Left side of frame is also stamped "United States Property". Left side of slide has the pony at rear. Right side of slide is stamped "Model of 1911 U.S. Army". Has the early diamond checkered walnut grips and early two-toned lanyard ring magazine, as well as the long smooth trigger. The grip safety and backstrap are soft brown patina, as is front grip strap. There is a light drag line. Other than the patina already described, the balance of the gun retains about 95% of its original factory blue finish with some light minor high edge wear. Action is perfect. Strong rifled bore. Simply a lovely, high condition, early 1911 Army.
