6.5mm cal, barrel length 19". Manufactured at the Koishikawa Arsenal, Tokyo. This is a 1st Model, which was a modification of the Type 38 carbine with a integral folding bayonet. The mum is complete on bridge. Also features a stacking hook on right side in addition to the 15-1/2" folding bayonet, with sling swivels on right sight, it has a two-piece butt stock with full hand guard and finger groove, rifle remains in fine condition, retaining virtually all of the original factory blue, thinning at muzzle, original finish stocks are in excellent condition, It has the knurled knob behind the upper butt plate screw to open the cleaning rod compartment. An almost identical carbine 3000 numbers off is pictured on Page 69 in the book, "Military Rifles of Japan." Still has straw colors on rear sight spring. An extremely clean example. Bolt has assembly numbers.
