6.5mm cal, barrel length 31-1/4". The receiver has the royal mum intact with the characters signifying the Type 38 on the top bridge. It has the standard two piece butt stock with short hand guard. It was manufactured in the Kokura Arsenal. It has the flat forged butt plate. It has standard blued metal parts. This rifle is all original with matching bolt number. All metal is a soft blue with minor age freckling. Stocks are excellent. Also comes with an original bayonet with metal sheath and leather frogs. Original capture papers list this gun by serial number as being released on October 10, 1945 to James J. Grannon, ASN. The bayonet is also listed. It is signed by John C. Cooper, 1st Lt., Infantry. A lovely, all original, fairly scarce Type 38.
