Barrel length 24". Caliber .30-06. Seldom does one find an early WWI Springfield model 1903 that has all of its original parts and finish having never gone through an update or rebuild program. This rifle has all of the original parts dating to 1917. To include barrel stamped SA, 11-17 with flaming bomb. Serial number matches the 1917 manufacturing date. The left side of stock has the inspector stamp J.F.C. (J.F. Coyle) 1904-1918. Wood features the type 3 high hump hand guard with 1.7" sight groove. Stock has the wide hand groove. proper rear sight with dished and knurled knobs, straight bolt smooth steel buttplate with trap door. All milled parts with blue finish. The sling is dated 1917 and has proper brass frogs. The bore is fine with a 1.5 ME reading. Stock remains in original excellent condition with minor, expected bumps and bruises. Features the period correct two bolts. Metal is basically a smooth grey brown patina all legends are sharp. An exceptional early war Springfield.
