Factory letter shows that this rifle was shipped on 9/27/1894 as follows: Type: Rifle; Caliber: .38/56; Barrel Type: Round; Trigger: Plain. This rifle letters all the way and remains in exquisite, all original condition. The barrel and tube retain approx 90% original factory blue finish. Just starting to dull. Sights are standard Winchester sporting. There is some minor, usual age spotting. The frame retains approx 85-90% of its brilliant case colors. With average age freckling but most of the colors are quite brilliant. The fore-end cap still retains 80% bright colors. The bolt retains virtually all of its original fire blue finish. Walnut stocks are excellent, proud to metal, retaining the majority of the original finish. All screw heads are perfect. Has a fine action and a strong, clean bore. Overall, this rifle has survived the past 120+ years in surprisingly near mint, original condition and would be extremely difficult to find a finer example and would be a stand out piece in any Winchester collection.
