.32 Winchester Special with a 24" barrel. The frame number on this rifle falls into the 1894 range and the butt stock does not have the fluted comb, otherwise it is a standard Model 55 takedown. Very common that Winchester used Model 1894 parts to build Model 55 rifles as they were both in production concurrently. Standard features include full round barrel half magazine, takedown, Winchester sporting rear sight, Winchester base and blade front sight, blued finish, walnut stocks with steel checkered shotgun buttplate. The barrel retains approximately 85% original factory blue, thinning at breech with strong barrel legend. Takedown tube retains 95% blue turning patina at cap. Takedown ring is gun metal grey. Frame is a mix of gun metal grey and brown patina with flashes of original blue. Quite common during this serial number range as the frames were prone to finish flaking. Walnut forend is excellent, proud to metal with no cracks or chips. Butt stock is excellent, proud to metal with no cracks. One minute chip at tang, and fits the receiver perfectly indicating this stock is original to this frame. Traces of blue on lever, loading gate and bolt. Forend cap is a soft brown patina. All screw heads are near perfect. Fine action. Strong clean bore.
