.44 bore percussion with a 7-1/2" barrel. This is another revolver from a premier Civil War collection that has been locked in a vault since the 1960s. It remains in virtually near new condition with most apparent wear simply from flaking, not from use. The barrel has a 1"x1/2" area on right side where finish has flaked with a couple areas of light freckling and some light muzzle wear, retaining 85-90% of the original lustrous high polish blue. The frame retains approximately 90% original high polish factory blue finish with a few areas of age freckling only and some light high edge wear. Cylinder retains approximately 90% of the original high polish blue with a couple areas of spotting where the gun rested on its side with some high edge wear and a light drag line. Original nipples are intact. Cylinder face shows no burn. The two piece walnut grips are near mint. These revolvers were manufactured at Hoard's Armory in Watertown, New York from 1863 to 1864. Only 2,000 were ever manufactured. It is a standard six shot single action. One of the finest condition examples of this rare revolver one could hope to acquire. Even the grip straps have the majority of their original factory blue finish. Bore and action are like new as well.
