.44 bore percussion with a 6" barrel. Manufactured from the 1850s to the 1860s in New York City. Offered is another Civil War handgun from a collection that was buried in a vault since the 1960s and is of the quality not seen on today's market. Standard features include six shot, double action, blued finish, case colored loading lever and hammer, with one piece walnut grips. These were purchased by they U.S. military and were extremely popular during the Civil War. They are best known to many people today due to its appearance in the Clint Eastwood movie "The Unforgiven". It has all proper military inspector stamps on the metal and two perfect cartouches on grip panels. The screws retain virtually all of the original fire blue finish. Original nipples are as new. Cylinder face shows no burn. Grips are near mint. The brilliant case colors are virtually intact on loading lever and hammer. As is normal, the only finish loss is from flaking and not from use. The barrel retains approximately 70% of the brilliant high polish blue with balance flaked to a smooth brown patina. Frame retains approximately 80% brilliant blue with some light freckling on top of frame. Cylinder retains approximately 90% blue with the double drag line caused by the cylinder stop. Grip straps and bottom of trigger guard have silvered out. Action and bore are perfect. Beautiful example of this popular Civil War double action revolver.
