A paper pasted to the backing paper of this portrait states that this was a gift from the artist himself to Mayor James M. Curley of Boston for the Presidential Primaries April 26, 1932. The painting is oil on board and signed "Hugh J. Montgomery 1932" in the bottom right corner. President Franklin D. Roosevelt is painted almost in profile, with fine details and clean finish. Frame is simple, and portrait has not been examined outside the frame.
