Swamped octagonal rifled barrel inlaid in shaded block lettering "F. BAADER in MUNCHEN." Gold band and band of stiff leaf decoration at muzzle and patent breech features four gold and white gold bands with chiseled borders and florals and a copper maker's mark. Front sight of German silver and shaped rear sight with adjustments. Barrel tang features a chiseled cameo of a hunter and engraved and gold inlaid scrolls and birds. Back-action percussion lockplate inlaid "F. BAADER" in block letters and chiseled with hunting scenes accented with two-tone gold inlays. Hammer features a relief chased dog's head, the face with scrolls and gold inlays including a bird. Chased and gold inlaid steel mounts in the French style, small silver shield wrist escutcheon and barrel key escutcheons. Double set triggers. Walnut half stock with shaped checkered panels at wrist and on forearm, left side of stock with high relief cheekpiece and a detailed relief-carved scene of a hunter shooting a deer in a coniferous forest. Relief carved foliate scrolls and borders carved around barrel tang. Steel sling swivels and ramrod ferrules with roped borders. Complete with original wooden ramrod with horn tip. Barrel retains a light brown patina with some light wear and scattered marks from use. Lock retains a grey patina and mechanism is strong and functions well. Furniture retains a grey patina and shows very little use, all gold inlays are present. Stock shows some wear to checkered panels and scattered nicks and marks from use. A few minor age cracks and some staining from oil. This very tasteful and elaborate German rifle of the highest quality, obviously made for someone of wealth and status.
