Features sporting front sight, elevator adjustable rear sight, tang sight, full magazine, takedown and crescent butt. Housed in a buffalo skin fitted carry case. Compete with additional buffalo skin reloading box with loading tool, bullets, scale and cleaning components. This is a unique piece of Americana from the Northwest. It is accompanied by a very old period picture showing a group of Northwest settlers standing in front of a group of bear traps and other turn of the century hunting equipment. The entire family is dressed with their pistol belts with hunting axes and revolvers. Written very lightly is a list of names for those present in the picture: Sarah, Jenny, Ron Dixon, Jack long and Luke Stover. Each frontiersman is holding a Winchester 1886 rifle with numerous other firearms in the background. These tools of the trade where typically one prized and valuable possessions. The 1886 is fitted within the case with the spacers being lined with what appears to be a floral printed wool blanket with firearm advertisements from numerous newsprint on the bottom of the case. The loading box is similarly fitted with green felt and hand fiited partitions for each specific item; three cans of primers, a bullet mold a can of powder, cast bullets and the loading tool itself. All covered with Buffalo hide with very thick harness of Buffalo skin straps. Very good condition overall. Over 80% factory applied blue finish remaining on the barrel and magazine. The receiver is silvered out from use, as is the buttplate. The bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling. The two piece straight grained American walnut stocks retain liberal amounts of the original finish with expected finish loss at forearm. Numerous nicks, abrasions and bruises are evident but the wood is solid and full sized. The cases are aged well and the exterior fur has become weathered. Considering the exposure to the elements and period of use we consider these to be excellent and remain extremely attractive. A unique piece from the American Northwest. CORRECTION: Photos added
