Both pistols with blued octagonal steel barrels with Liege proofs and multigroove rifling, patent hooked breeches decorated with scrolls on top flats and tangs. Flat steel lockplates, engraved at front and back, unusual hammers engraved with florals. Engraved steel target trigger guards with finger spurs and set triggers. Steel sideplates in the French taste with acanthus leaf wings. Silver barrel key escutcheons and small vacant shield wrist escutcheons. Partially figured walnut half stocks of familiar French form with relief-carved spider webs on forends and scalloping at butts. Checkered shaped panels on each side of grips. Steel shell-shaped lidded compartments on pommels for extra nipple storage. Complete with period oak case with green felt-lined fitted French interior. Accessories include a period but unmarked brass capper, a rosewood mallet, nipple removal wrench, oiler, brass powder measure, rosewood ramrod, rosewood cleaning rod with brass tip, and a copper flask. Pistols are in very good condition with strong functional locks and excellent rifling. Barrels retain about 90% original blue finish with some thinning, edge wear, and minor losses. Locks and steel furniture retain a light grey surface, one nipple broken. Stocks very good with a few scattered marks from use. Case has a few cracks and scattered marks, lid slightly warped. Interior with some fading, minor stains, and wear. Accessories have scattered marks from use and show some wear. A very nice and complete set of cased target pistols in the French style.
