Round carbine barrel with standard two line barrel address. Standard front and 1876 marked rear sight for carbine. Comes with one barrel band and a forearm cap that is blued. Receiver is blued with carbine stud and ring in place. Blued dust cover with a dark, nitre blued loading gate. Case colored hammer, lever, and what looks to be a blued trigger. Stock is of a straight grain American walnut with carbine butt style buttplate. Caliber marking on carrier lifter is .45-60 with no extra features on this carbine. The 1876 carbine was wildly popular and was utilized through out the world by police and military forces alike. Production was rather high however they are normally found with no finish and extremely hard used. This near pristine example is certainly the exception and is the finest example we have ever observed. Round barrel retains 99% of its original blue. Barrel band is 98% blue. Receiver on left side retains 98-99% blue with one scratch on flat portion of receiver. Right side 99% original blue with loading gate turning to a deep purple color and it is 98-99% blue. Hammer retains 97% of its orig bright case colors with one drag line and lever is 95-96% original case color. Wood is of few surface scratches and only a couple of impressions. Right side of stock is virtually free of any compressions with a few minor surface scratches. Buttplate is case colored with 96-97% of the bright colors remaining. Carrier lifter medium mustard color with no dings or scratches to indicate any use. Bore is bright and shiny, would rate a solid nine out of ten with no surface pitting to indicate any use. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Mechanics are fine, cycled properly. Documented with a Cody Firearms research certificate indicating shipping date of December 5th, 1887 and the configuration as: carbine in caliber .45-60. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
