Manufactured in 1897. This special order semi-deluxe Winchester has a British proof "Crown over V" on the left side of the chamber and rear of the bolt. Special features include button magazine, leaf rear sight, uncheckered pistol grip rear stock, and factory sling eyes. Blue round nickel steel barrel with correct Lyman blade front sight. Fair bore with some frosting. Blue lever action with saddle ring. Case colored hammer and lever. Front and rear walnut stocks with a metal shotgun buttplate and barrel band. Stocks have been refinished. 70% blue on barrel. Receiver has 30% blue. Traces of case color in protected areas on lever and hammer. A scarce antique Winchester 1894. Factory research shows serial No. 98573 shipped on November 10th, 1900 as a .30 caliber carbine with plain pistol grip stock, shotgun butt half magazine and Lyman front sight.
