Two-stage 11" barrels marked "London" in script on top flats with Birmingham proof marks on left sides of engraved breeches. Silver spider sights at muzzles and gold inlays around each touch-hole. .61 caliber smooth bores. Flat locks with beveled edges, both engraved with military motifs with "GRICE" within a banner and daisies at tails, lock plates with ornately-engraved borders, cocks engraved with scrolls and borders; engraved thumb safeties behind cocks. Paktong (German silver) furniture engraved with rocker-panel borders including: full side plates with a large finely-engraved panoply of arms with military motifs and acanthus leaves, engraved trigger guards with pineapple finials, oval wrist escutcheons with punch-dot engraved borders with "Turno" engraved in center of each in script, butt caps with stepped finials and scroll engraving, ornate stars around butt cap screws and ramrod ferrules. Partially figured varnished walnut full-length stocks with finely-carved relief shells behind both tangs. A fine pair of late Revolutionary War period flintlock officer’s pistols by well-known British gunmaker William Grice (1745-1805). Excellent condition showing almost no wear, metal components bright with light grey patina, all markings and engraving is crisp. Stocks excellent and showing no wear. One pistol with a small hairline crack from rear barrel key to barrel. Furniture with mellow patina and showing no wear.
