WINCHESTER DELUXE MODEL 64 "DEER RIFLE". WINCHESTER 64 1597217 219ZIPPER MODERN Cal. 219 ZIPPER. 26" rnd bbl, half magazine, full blue finish. Bolt mounted peep sight. Straight grain American walnut stocks with checkered pistol grip and forend. Pistol grip is capped. Checkered steel shotgun buttplate with quick detach Winchester sling swivels. Bbl shows Winchester Model and Cal. designation rolled on left side with Winchester address on right side. Front sight is hooded and mounted on a ramp. Rear sight mortise is plugged. "WP" proofs are struck at bbl breech and on top of receiver ring. Peep sight is mounted on the bolt. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain 95% of orig blue finish that has drifted somewhat to plum on the bbl toward the muzzle. Markings are sharp. Sight is very good. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Mechanics are crisp. Receiver retains 95% bright blue finish with some high-point wear, especially at the carry point. Peep sight is very good. Stocks are very good, retaining almost all of an old re-varnished finish. Checkering is sharp. There are some gaps in the fit between stock and receiver and forend. Buttplate retains considerable blue. Forend cap retains 95% blue finish. A nice example of a Deluxe Winchester Model 64 "Deer Rifle" made right before WWII in very limited production 53080-49 TEP (4,000-5,000)
