(A) is a 2nd Allin conversion Trapdoor rifle, built on an 1864 dated Springfield Civil War musket. The gun has "J.MOORE" stamped into both the wood and metal in several places. Incorrect cleaning rod. Marked "1866" on the breechblock. ESA cartouche on left side of stock. (B) is a model 1868 Trapdoor rifle, dated 1869 on the breechblock. 1863 dated lock. ESA cartouche on the left side of the stock, also has a name which is illegible. Matching numbers on barrel and receiver. CONDITION: (A) Metal surfaces have been cleaned, although markings are clear. Wood has been lightly refinished. Good mechanical function. Bore has strong rifling. (B) Metal surfaces have been cleaned, some light pitting. Wood has been refinished. Good mechanical function. Bore has sharp rifling.
