Cast and hand chased gold medal measuring 4-1/4" high, the top bar with spread wing eagle perched upon a star and centered with a small diamond, and, in turn, atop an enameled bar reading "A.B Of S.P." with small green stone on the left and red stone on the right. Centered on the bar is a ships wheel. Suspended beneath is a compass with mother of pearl dial, the letters "P C" flanking. The planchet depicts a wreath upon which is mounted an enameled American shield with riband reading "What Cheer", beneath is a pair of crossed anchors. The reverse engraved "Presented to Capt N.A. Briggs, Jan. 1891". The medal weighs 19.6 pennyweight of 14K gold. CONDITION: Excellent. DG
