A fine lot of three early gold shooting medals consisting of: (A) Medal measuring 4-1/4" high, the lower suspension bar engraved and enameled "Major". suspended beneath is a finely chased spread wing eagle with a red stone eye, eagle is clutching a square panel on which is engraved and enameled "Pres'td By The / 6th Bat'l G.S.B. / W.R. of N.J. / Aug 1st, 94". Square panel is flanked with opposing chased dragons and rococo scrolls, beneath, a pair of schuetzen rifles. (B) Medal measuring 3-1/8" high, the top bar engraved "N.Y", suspending a planchet displaying in cast relief "Nat'l Schutzen Bund" with riband below reading " Viertes Nat'ls Bundes Schiessen June 1904". (C) Medal measuring 2-3/4" high, the top bar engraved and enameled " Non / Commissioned / Officer's Trophy", suspended beneath, a planchet displaying an enameled target and crossed flags and engraved "I.N.G.". The reverse top bar engraved "Clyde L.G. Thompson", the planchet engraved "Donated by / The Honorable / Jacob J. Kern / for excellence in / Rifle Firing / 1899". The three medals total 44 pennyweight of 10K gold. CONDITION: Excellent. DG
