Lot consists of: five contemporary horns, four incised with maps and names, one incised ships and towers, along with one older flat, silver mounted horn. (A) Flat horn having silver mounts with floral motifs on throat, side panels, and sides of base. Bottom of base with applied plaque with owner initials "WS." Short suspension chain attached at throat base ring missing. Attachment ring missing from top of base. (B) Turned spout. Body with Royal arms, map, "1765" and "Capn. John Bridges Coy." (C) Map horn, rubbed, motifs faint, "Capt. Wm. Hamman Philipsburgh Manor." (D) Map horn, "Fait a Quebec" with French royal arms of three Fleurs-de-Lis at top, with Fleur-de-Lis incised in base. Portions of an old strap attached. (E) Map horn, royal crest, "Townsend AD 1759" Two small spots of insect damage at top edge of incised panel. (F) Map horn, New York, Royal crest, " John Bravington 17th Regiment Sutherland Mills Year 1765." (G) Large horn lightly incised with ships at base, two stone towers on shore with British flag and weather vane, closely spaced buildings or barracks. Pointed arch with "1776" and "AC" Insect hole, tack holes, crack, chip and split at base. No plug. Crude shaving to upper end. CONDITION: Good. Two map horns with patina, two bright, one with light incising orange in tone. (SR)
