Lot consists of: (A) 1872 Cavalry Officer saber with 35" gently curved blade decorated with patriotic motifs. Left side with "J.H. / McKenney / & Co. / N.Y." in a reserve. Cast and chased hilt is decorated with more patriotic motifs. Fishskin grip with single strand of braided brass wire. Scabbard with brass drag, hangers, and throat decorated with florals. CONDITION: Blade is very good and appears to be untouched. Guard is crisp, complete. Wrap and grip are excellent, complete. Scabbard has some light scattered pitting and oxidation. (B) USMA Cadet Sword. 30 - 3/4" diamond shaped spear point blade. Right side decorated with florals and cadet's name, "A.W. Fontana". Left side with florals, stylized "U.S." and stand of arms. Left side of ricasso marked "Ridabock / & Co / New York / N.Y." Quillions with roped edges and eagle heads, central guard with "MA" in reserve. Hilt is cast wire. Urn pommel with patriotic eagles in reserves. Plain scabbard with frog stud at locket that terminates in an oak leaf. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is fine and appears to be untouched with strong etching. Grip has rubbed to a silver patina with flashes of gilding visible. Some marks from handling and use. Scabbard in commensurate condition. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of George M. Rapport. EW.
