Gently curving 31 - 5/8" blade with double fullers running for approximately 3/4 of the length of the blade. Right side of ricasso stamped "PHILADELPHIA" left side stamped "HORSTMANN / & SONS". Cast D guard with floral motifs and flower at quillon. Leather and single braided brass wire grip. Pommel cap with additional cast florals. Plain scabbard with two hangers and distinct weld line. CONDITION: Very good. Blade has been cleaned over some very light areas of pitting. One significant nick in the blade, next to the top of the fuller, that bites nearly 1/16" into the blade. One other smaller chip. Guard is very good with evidence of use and an old repair on the left side on either side of the blade, with distinctly visible repair seam. Pommel shows evidence of an old repair with seam distinctly visible and running in line with the blade. When pommel was reattached it was done so incorrectly and it now leans left. Leather wrap is very good but has suffered some damage from the loose pommel cap where the guard meets the pommel and leather. Scabbard is good, largely bright metal with some areas of staining and evidence of use. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of George M. Rapport. EW.
