Lot consists of: (A) 1913 dated Patton saber (US Model 1913) with early pattern scabbard retaining tent pole pin on the drag, picket pin in sheath buckled to scabbard, 1917 pattern carrier, and issue sword knot, Saber is marked "US / 6198" on obverse, "SA" with ordnance bomb and 1913 on reverse. Blade pad in place. Russet sword knot. Picket pin in sheath buckled to scabbard. 1917 pattern carrier with both upper straps and buckles and single long lower strap with snap hook. CONDITION: Knot is very good. Grips very good. Small scattered wear spots to blackening on pommel and guard overall. Blade with good edge and point. Bright mixed with grey spots. Pad in place. Scabbard is very good, just minor dirt and stains. Carrier is good, but one upper strap is weak, with finish loss and abrasion, small retaining loop below buckle is broken. Long strap is good, but some finish loss from flexing. Scabbard throat shows minor rubbing to grey on high points. (B) Practice sword with full wood blade and metal guard. Light but legible RIA/1914 stamp reverse near hilt. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is straight, not warped. Guard firmly in place. Crisp thumb rest. Small area of brown coming up under the black on bottom exterior curve of guard. A very nice set with early dated Patton sword and early pattern scabbard with tent-pole tip. SR.
