Lot consists of: (A) 1860 Light Cavalry Saber with 34 - 1/2" gently curving blade and partial double fuller running nearly the entire length of the blade. Right side of ricasso with "U.S. / D.F.M. / 1864", left side with "EMERSON & SILVER / TRENTON / NJ". "273 F.M" on underside of counterguard. Leather grip with single strand of brass braided wire is a replacement. Plain steel scabbard with two hangers and G.W.C. inspection on drag. CONDITION: Good. Blade has been cleaned and there is some scattered areas of darkness and oil staining. Guard shows evidence of above average use. Grip and wire are good as of more recent vintage, with some of the leather missing near the area where the guard connects the pommel and one section of brass broken and missing half of its braid for approximately 3/4". Scabbard has also been cleaned and has evenly scattered darkness. Numerous dents, legend of drag is soft. (B) 1860 Naval Cutlass with very gently curving 26" blade with single fuller running for approximately 3/4 of the length of the blade. Right side of ricasso marked "U.S.N. / D. (B?) / 1862" with "B" being very faint. Inside of counterguard marked "6M / 51". Pommel marked "D.B". Leather wrap sans wire. Scabbard of leather with brass frog and drag and riveted seam. CONDITION: Good. Blade has been professionally cleaned and repolished, with a cross polish reapplied. Guard and cup are complete with evidence of use. Leather grip with some rubbing, complete. Scabbard with some craquelure to leather and tender towards drag but complete. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of George M. Rapport. EW.
