California style hunting knife with upswept blade marked on ricasso "M PRICE, SAN FRANCISCO". Full tang construction with elk antler handle scales, nickel silver pins and washers. No sheath. Circa 1856-1889. This knife was reportedly discovered many years ago, while being used by a West Coast carpetlayer. PROVENANCE: Ex. Joe Cordova, Mark Zalesky, David Petty collections. CONDITION: Blade with light sharpening and use, scattered pitting especially towards ricasso.
