Bronze centennial medal made in 1913 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the victory over Napoleon in the 1813 "Battle of Nations" in Leipzig. It measures 1-5/8" in diameter, is 1/8" thick at the rim, and 3/16" thick in the center, with uniform toning and patina. The medal represents the "Kelheim Hall of Liberation" which was inaugurated in 1863 in Kelheim on the Michelsberg, in honor of that battle. The front of the medal presents an image of the hall with the date of August 25, 1913, and the reverse presents a dedication in German. The consignor has provided a number of documents which establish the provenance of this unique medal. This medal was in the estate of Frau Anny Winter, who was Adolf Hitler's personal housekeeper and passed away in 1970. The entire estate was auctioned off in Munich, Germany April 1971, and and then auction off by "Mohawk Arms, Inc" in 1971 as part of the "Adolf Hitler Collection". This medal appears to have been auctioned off by "Alexander Historical Auctions" in 2016 and then sold to the consignor in 2017. Some of the documentation provided as provenance includes the 1971 auction catalog from Mohawk Arms, a history of the hall in Kelheim, and assorted correspondence. An exceptionally unique piece of history. CONDITION: Undamaged, with the patina of having been made in 1913. DG

Condition: (Excellent).
