Third Reich Allgemeine SS officer visor cap made in a high quality soft gabardine wool with no visible damage to its body other than a tiny moth nip on the top right and some very light stains in a 2" area on top center right. Black velvet center band is undamaged, other than a quarter inch area of damage to the lower right side behind the chin cord button, which also damaged the lower white piping. Other than that spot, there is a 3/8" area of damage on the top of the center band on the rear, and two tiny moth nips above the skull. The SS eagle retains approximately 80% of its nickel plated finish, and the skull retains approximately 15% of its nickel finish, with patina. Both the skull and eagle are reproductions, and the liner has been opened behind the skull. The black vulkanfibre visor presents some very light wear and almost indistinguishable crazing, with an eight of an inch area of damage on the center front. The visor underside is in a red brown crosshatch pattern. The officer bullion chin cord is attached and undamaged, and their buttons appear to be untouched. The interior is fully lined in a light gray rayon with moderate staining. There are two stamps on the lining, one of which has been identified as Czech theater markings from "Brno/Brunn" in the Czech Republic. The other appears to be an inventory number. The sweat shield is present but is heavily damaged as if it has been damaged from heat. It is dark brown and bubbled. The light brown leather sweatband has light staining and is detached approximately 2" in the back, and a one inch area on the right near the visor. The lining has been opened behind the skull and there is a copper piece of metal as a stiffener. CONDITION: Original visor cap with post-war reproduction insignia. Very good to excellent overall. WZ
