Lot consists of: (A) Luftwaffe M40 helmet with hand painted national colors, and (B) Luftwaffe M35 double decal helmet. (A) Luftwaffe M40 helmet with the uncommon maker of "SE" for "Sachsische Emaillerwerk" marked "SE64", with a lot number of "5159". Shell retains 85-90% of its rough blue-grey paint, with light scratches and nicks. Interior retains approximately 80% of its rough blue-grey finish, with moderate freckling on the rear flange, with dust and dirt. The Luftwaffe decal rates approximately 80% with light damage overall. The national colors have been hand painted on at some point (likely post-war), with a coat of lacquer applied. Original mid to late zinc liner band is present, with moderate freckling, and appears to be original to the helmet. Dark brown leather liner exhibits moderate to heavy wear with fraying around the edges and broken through the rear seam area. No markings are visible. Drawstring and chinstrap are missing. Liner assembly appears to be original to the helmet. CONDITION: Overall very good. (B) Luftwaffe M35 double decal helmet marked "EF64" for the maker of "Emailerwerke A.G.", in a shell size of 64, with a lot number of "26436". The medium liner is in size 57. Shell retains 90-95% of its smooth blue gray paint, with some patina, freckling, and dust. Appears to have been cleaned/ polished. Interior retains approximately 90% of its smooth blue grey finish, with patina, freckling, and dust. Luftwaffe decal is in approximately 85% condition with the required era coat of lacquer, which shows up nicely with a black light. Areas of freckling through the decal. National colors rates approximately 90% with some discoloration, scrapes and scratches. Liner assembly has been replaced with a later style. The band appears to be a polished zinc one with freckling. Light brown leather liner has the size stamp of "57" with light to moderate wear and staining. Light fraying around the folded edge. Original drawstring is present. Original brown leather chinstrap with aluminum fittings is also present, with light wear, and is dated "1940" with what a maker marking of "G Schiele, Coburg". CONDITION: Overall excellent with replaced liner assembly. WZ
