Lot consists of: (A) German World War II Heer M40 helmet with an illegible maker and size mark (due to repaint) with a partial lot number of "361". Shell might be a 62, and the liner is about a size 55. Shell retains 65-70% of a non-German World War II rough grey-green paint, and the interior retains approximately 80% of the identical paint, with patina, dust, and dirt. Early aluminum liner band is present and likely to have been replaced. Liner is very dark with oil and age, appears to be complete, with fraying to the leather around the edge. Untied original liner drawstring is present. Original chinstrap with steel fittings is also present, with moderate wear and age, dated "44" and with a RBNr. CONDITION: Overall good to very good. (B) Third Reich lightweight Fire Police helmet marked "Thale-Stahl" with remnants of the double decals. Shell exterior retains 80-85% of its original black paint, and the interior retains approximately 90% of its black paint, with freckling, dust, and dirt. Original dark brown liner and head pad are present, with the liner stamped "57" with moderate age and staining. Four thin liner pads are present. Liner is named. Chinstrap is broken and detached from one side with moderate wear. police and party decals have been scrapped off, with less than 5% of them remaining. Exterior top center retains the covers for the holes used to mount the aluminum comb, which is missing. CONDITION: Overall very good. WZ
