The helmet of typical form with two plume holders, tall central spike, sliding nasal, and long camail. The steel bowl etched with Persian figures, birds in foliage, the rim entirely etched with Persian calligraphy praising Allah heightened with silver damascened bands (now darkened). CONDITION: The helmet is in good overall condition with wear to etching and damascening. The turnscrew for the sliding nasal is absent. There are areas of rust, but none serious. The camail is detached in places and is rust patinated. MZ
