This is a very handsome pair with four beautifully fluted lames forward of the fluted and roped bordered cuffs and spirally fluted knuckle guards and five lames forward of knuckle guards. Four lame thumbpieces. The reliefs for the ulna with five slash marks. CONDITION: This lovely pair of Maximilian gauntlets exhibit delamination in fluted areas expected of genuine examples. The metal surfaces are mostly bright metal over old corrosion. The thumbpiece of the left gauntlet missing three lames. The interior of both gauntlets showing a deep even age patina. The articulation is masterful and remarkably both gauntlets appear to have no replaced parts. This is a very fine example of knightly armour showing exemplary work throughout. MZ
