(a)"DESTINY ON THE GREASY GRASS" BRONZE BY WESTERGARD. Extremely limited edition multi-patina bronze sculpture by artist Mike Westergard, official sculptor for the Custer Battlefield Preservation Committee. This bronze titled: "DESTINY ON THE GREASY GRASS" depicts Lt Col Custer and his Adjutant 1st Lieut. W.W. Cooke, and brother Capt. Tom Custer in their final few minutes left on the Earth. Number six of 18 produced in 1985, this is a highly sought after bronze by Custer collectors. Mr. Westergard's career spans 20 years and has won numerous awards including being selected as Best Living Western Sculptor by the historical publication True West Magazine and was also selected as a participating artist in the prestigious Best of Scottsdale Show held in Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Excellent overall. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Wagner cavalry museum collection. (b)BATTLE OF THE LITTLE BIGHORN "A TIME OF VALOR" BRONZE LIMITED EDITION STATUE. Limited edition multi-patina bronze sculpture by artist Mike Westergaard, official sculptor for the Custer Battlefield Preservation Committee. This bronze depicts the dramatic Medal of Honor action of three troopers assigned to Maj Marcus Reno's detachment of Custer's 7th US Cavalry. Dug into defensive positions after the destruction of Custer's immediate command, these men were critically low on water for the wounded and had to traverse a long ravine and expose themselves to intense rifle fire from Indian sharpshooters posted on the bluffs across from them. This sculpture shows the critical moment when Pvt. Frederick Deetline (top), Pvt. William Harris (center), and Pvt. Frank Tolan (bottom) were filling individual canteens as their company camp kettles were riddled with bullets. Number 6 of 35 produced in 1991. Includes original info card and a copy of "The Veteran's View' magazine with the advertisement for the bronze on the front and back cover. CONDITION: Excellent overall. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Wagner cavalry museum collection. (c) THREE LIMITED EDITION BUFFALO BRONZES AND ONE BUST OF MYLES KEOGH. (d) Limited edition bronze by Mike Westergard of a bison lying down. Titled "HERITAGE OF THE PLAINS" this sculpture is number 13 of 20 and was produced in the 1980's. (e) Limited edition bronze by Ralph Crawford titled: "LOBO 8 THE BULL" this sculpture was produced in 1975 and is number two of 12. (f) Limited edition bronze: "THE RUBBING ROCK" by Mike Westergard and is number 18 of 25. (g) Limited edition bronze by Rogers Aston. Titled: "USA CAVALRY CAPTAIN - CA. 1872 - CAPTAIN MYLES W. KEOGH." Produced in 1980, it is number ten of 27 and retains it's original factory paperwork and signed letter from the sculptor to Custer collector Frank Wagner. CONDITION: Excellent overall.
