Based off of the Spanish 50mm design by Esperanza y Cia, the British SBLM MK II 2" Mortar was issued in several variations, seeing use with infantry, paratroopers, and the British Universal Carriers. This example has been deactivated by a weld and hole cut at the base of the mortar tube. Tube and spade baseplate are painted drab green with the tube having a white line painted down the center. Base of mortar tube is faintly marked "24/ REG No L33079/ ML 2 IN MORTAR/ 1942". Complete with original canvas baseplate strap. CONDITION: Metal components retain a good amount of their applied green paint, with areas of chipping and loss all around. Bore is coated in a layer of cosmoline. Canvas strap is intact, but shows areas of fraying and wear. MW
