Lot consists of: (A) A matching pair of hunting knives, this large drop point hunter displays its original edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters, and stylized "Montjoy" etch. The full tapered tang is enhanced with colorful dyed burlwood handle scales, dovetailed and secured with polished Corby bolts and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, there is slight shrinkage of the handle scales. (B) This matching knife is a medium sized drop point hunter with its original edge, hand rubbed finish and stylized "Montjoy" etch. The fileworked and full tapered tang is finished off with a dovetailed and pinned set of colorful, dyed burlwood handle scales and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife is unused. There is slight shrinkage of the burlwood scales, with scratches on the mark side handle; a few of them a bit deep. Claude Montjoy of Clinton, South Carolina was a knifemaker for almost 30 years when he passed away in 2011 at the age of 74. A member of the South Carolina Association of Knifemakers, Mr. Montjoy was highly skilled in his craft, creating a large variety of styles and types including slipjoints, interframes, hunters and fighters.
