Silver and gold oval presentation medallion commemorating Prinzregent Luitpold von Bayern's (1821-1912) life. The Prinzregent served as Bavaria's defacto King from 1886 (to 1912) when Ludwig II was deposed. This medallion measures 2" x 1". The frame and backing are made from yellow gold, and the center from silver. Four hand-cut rubies are positioned around the frame, with two sapphires, and a seed pearl on the hangar. Hanging from the bottom is a elongated BIWA pearl. Inscribed on the reverse is information about Prinzregent Luitpold with his birth and death information. These medallions were created by Professor von Hildebrand and given out by the Wittelsbach family. CONDITION: Excellent. WZ
